Huawei Mate 50 Pro is better in photos than the Pixel 7 Pro

Huawei launched a new high-end smartphone, the Mate 50 Pro, in China a few weeks ago. The newcomer in Huawei’s popular series holds its crown as the best smartphone for photography, according to DXOMARK experts.

The ranking of DXOMARK photos has been turned upside down for a few weeks. For example, we recently saw the arrival of the iPhone 14 Pro, which dethroned almost all Android smartphones, but also that of the Pixel 7 Pro, which managed to take the lead with a total score of 147 points.

That’s not counting the look of Huawei’s new high-end smartphone, the Mate 50 Pro, which is the direct successor to the 2020 Mate 40 Pro. As often happens with the Chinese manufacturer’s smartphones, the latter was elected king of photography two years ago, and his successor managed to do the same by climbing to first place in 2022.

Huawei remains master of the photo

The Huawei Mate 50 Pro takes up many aspects of the Huawei P50 Pro, including the IMX766 main camera, 13MP ultra wide-angle sensor, and 64MP OV64B periscope sensor that offers 5X optical zoom. However, it does away with the 40MP black and white sensor.

The new Huawei Mate 50 Pro is also the first high-end smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer not to be designed in collaboration with the company Leica, as the latter has recently collaborated with Xiaomi starting with the Xiaomi 12S. This hasn’t stopped Huawei from doing so wins first place at DXOMARK, with a total score of 149 pointsS.

Specifically, the smartphone managed to do this get the highest score in photos and bokeh, with 152 and 80 points respectively. Huawei Mate 50 Pro also performs very well in terms of zoom with 148 points and in video with 141 points. However, the smartphone is fishing in “Preview”, which detects the difference between what you see on the screen and the final shot.

DXOMARK detects that the smartphone is capable of taking high quality photos in all typical situationswith some truly outstanding performance in low light conditions. However, the shutter is not one of the fastestwhich increases your chances of capturing blurry photos if the subject moves a lot.
