Huawei managed to surpass Apple in another area! Now, it was in the wearables market

In a context of strong competition, Huawei stands out for its continued growth in the wearables sector. Recent figures reveal that the brand has managed to establish itself in the market, even surpassing giants like Apple. The current panorama shows an interesting evolution in the industry.

Despite facing many restrictions and blockages, Huawei has managed to grow gradually, but very firmly. It has reinvented itself and explored other areas of business, where it has excelled. New evidence is now emerging, with data showing that Huawei has managed to overtake Apple in a new sector: the wearable device market.

Huawei manages to surpass Apple again

A total of 43.7 million wearable devices (smartbands and smartwatches) were shipped between April and June, and Huawei ranked at the top of this global market in terms of shipments and market share. According to the latest data from IDC, Huawei recorded a remarkable growth rate, with 8.9 million global shipments and a market share of 20.3%.

China remains one of the largest markets, where Huawei reached approximately 6 million wearable devices and increased its market share to 38.4%. Despite Huawei’s success, the global smart wearable device market saw a slight decline of 0.7% compared to the corresponding period last year.

Huawei saw strong demand for its smartwatches and fitness trackers, with the Watch Fit 3 playing a key role in this global growth. The brand also managed to increase its market share in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

Fierce competition in the wearable device market

Xiaomi ranked second in the global market, with 5.9 million shipments and a 13.5% market share. Xiaomi’s entry-level Redmi series drove this growth, while premium devices such as the Watch S3 and Watch 2 also performed well.

Apple came in third with 5.7 million shipments and a 13.1% market share. The Cupertino giant saw its annual shipments decline by nearly 12% due to fierce competition and pricing from its Chinese rivals.

Samsung shipped 3.3 million wearables during the period, with the Galaxy Fit 3 serving as the main growth driver. BBK rounded out the top five with 2.9 million shipments and 6.6% market share, driven by strong demand for its kids’ watch models in China.
