In light of the critical issues triggered from the pandemic, Huawei will integrate into its offering wearable devices for health care. A business diversification aired by company CEO and founder Ren Zhengfei during a speech dating back to last June but disclosed only in recent days, in which he analyzed the brand’s priorities to succeed – or survive – in a moment of crisis like the present one. These include further investments in research and development, a focus on profits and a decentralization of powers.
According to a report by South China Morning Post, l’acceleration of wearables segment could lead the Chinese company to catch up with its rival Xiaomi, currently the second largest wearable device manufacturer in the world after Apple (in the second quarter of 2020, Huawei ranked second on an international scale). As explained at an event earlier this year, the company is working on three distinct health research programs, focusing on the management of hypertension, body temperature and coronary heart disease. If it is sure that the construction sites are already in operation, it is not yet known when the new features will be integrated into Huawei-branded devices.
Currently, Huawei has a network of more than 13 research centers around the world engaged in the design, software and hardware development, and health care functions of wearable devices.
