Huawei Develops a Smartphone Wrapped in a Screen to the Side: Okezone techno

Quoting from Android Headlines, Monday (14/9/2020), the company filed a patent for this new design to the National Intellectual Property Administration of China (CNIPA). According to a patent filed on March 17 and published on September 11, the device design looks a lot like the Mate X and Mate Xs foldable smartphones – minus the folding mechanism.

The new design patent reveals a Huawei smartphone wrapped in a screen. Like the current generation flagship smartphones, Huawei features an edge-to-edge display with minimal bezels on the front. However, the screen will wrap around the back of the device from the left side. On the right edge are the power and volume buttons.

Even though they’ve eliminated the hardware buttons on some of their flagship phones, the reference designs on this list still feature them. As seen in the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha concept smartphone launched in 2019, Huawei can also opt for a similar flexible OLED screen.

It was reported that there will be no front camera on this device. Since the left edge of the device is completely covered by the screen, Huawei must make adjustments to avoid accidental touches.

With a two-sided display, Huawei will skip the front camera sensor. The small strip on the back will hold the camera sensor and LED flash.

Plus, the camera setup on the back of the device also doubles as the front camera. So, its high megapixel camera can capture beautiful selfies. Like all patents, there is no guarantee that this design will be used for the next smartphone.
