Here is some surprising news, one that still proves to us that you need the market leader to properly develop a global network at the beginning of the road.

Huawei and Ericsson announced the conclusion of a long-term partnership for global licenses covering 3GPP, ITU, IEEE and IETF standards for 3G, 4G and 5G technologies. This agreement allows the two companies to use their jointly patented technologies, all to offer customers complex network equipment.

Huawei is the market leader when it comes to 4G and 5G patents, some technologies developed by the Chinese company being even vital in some cases.

Ericsson in turn has grown a lot, the company winning many contracts for the implementation of the 5G network in markets where Huawei has been banned. The Swedes expect that in 2023 alone they will have revenues of approximately 1 billion dollars from patent licensing.
