Huang Xuan’s Ma Defu is simple, sincere, and down-to-earth. Such a rustic role as a village official has also subverted many audiences’ impression of Huang Xuan. Huang Xuan said that he likes to challenge characters that have not been tried. “I don’t think that actors will always give everyone a handsome and beautiful image. At work, Huang Xuan likes to challenge different types of roles and experience the lives of different people; in life, he makes many fans feel a bit “monotonous”, watering flowers, writing, drinking tea, and always wearing plain clothes.
