Berlin is worth a trip – that’s what 35 people from Krefeld must have thought who accompanied HTC Blau-Weiss Krefeld to the first game in the second tennis Bundesliga North in the federal capital. The traditional facility of the host TC 1899 Blau-Weiss Berlin inspired the people of Seidenstadt, if they had not visited the facility before. In fact, the joy knew no bounds that the Stadtwald team started the season successfully with a 6:3 victory, at the end of which the return to the Bundesliga should ideally be celebrated on the 100th anniversary. The opening win was already sealed after the individual events. The bare 5:1 score before the doubles belied the fact that there was little room between victory and defeat. Because four of the usual six duels in the 2nd Bundesliga were only decided in the Champions tie-break. Krefeld’s press spokesman Jörg Cells was happy about the first points: “It was a wonderful start to the season. And because of the last few years, it can also be seen that we can do a champions tie-break.” Cells were not used to the fact that there were no ball boys at the premiere.
