Lübeck – On the 31st match day in the 2nd handball Bundesliga at TV Emsdetten, the Handball Sport Verein Hamburg underpinned its ambitions for promotion and table leadership with a sovereign and never endangered 34:27 (20:12) victory and thereby separated from TuS N.-Lübbecke, who stumbled in the parallel game with 30:33 at VfL Lübeck-Schwartau.
Hamburger lay the foundation for victory in the first 15 minutes
HSV Hamburg took over the lead after 40 seconds with Niklas Weller’s seven-meter conversion, which TV Emsdetten also equalized with a seven-meter lead. After the 2: 2 in the 4th minute, the guest put down a 3: 0 run to 5: 2 and after the 3: 5 (8th) by the TVE there was a 5: 0 run to 10: 3 ( 15.). That was the preliminary decision in the game after just 15 minutes. The defense was flexible and Jens Vortmann defused his first seven-meter. The hosts’ attackers did not develop.

Again and again ball wins came from the safe defense, which led to simple goals over the first and second wave. So there was a ten-goal lead by Weller at 17: 7 in the 24th minute. A slight lack of concentration caused TV Emsdetten to shorten to 10:17 (26th) and coach Torsten Jansen took his first break. Then Vortmann parried the second penalty and the team got back into the flow of the game. With a clear 20:12 lead it went into the cabins.
In the second half, despite many changes, the game remained sovereign
For the second 30 minutes, coach Jansen put Jonas Maier between the posts, who immediately introduced himself with a parade. In return, Weller put a ball on the post. A little later, Jansen changed, which allowed the hosts to make the game more open. A lively goal-throwing was announced on both sides, even when they were outnumbered, the Hamburg team kept TVE at a distance, which took its last time-out at 19:28 (44th). With the Hamburgers – with the exception of Philipp Bauer – all players were given working times, which hardly affected the flow of attacks. In the end, a never-endangered 34:27 victory was on the display.
Conclusion: HSV Hamburg has mastered its away task with confidence and with Leif Tissier a flexible player in the ranks who danced the opposing defense time and again and always had an eye for his teammates in order to use them successfully. Due to the simultaneous defeat of the table runner-up TuS N.-Lübbecke at VfL Lübeck-Schwartau, the HSVH expanded its lead again. Hamburg gratefully accepted the help.
