In the first leg win against TuS Volmetal, Pascal Noll was HSG’s most successful thrower with ten goals.

Maik Pallach had actually come to terms with the fact that HSG Krefeld Niederrhein could only reach second place in Season D in the 3rd Bundesliga handball league. “Schalksmühle has only lost twice so far. I don’t think the Dragons will lose twice in the last four games,” the coach said last week. But the Dragons made a mistake in the away game at VfL Eintracht Baunatal. The Dragons lost three or four key players. In addition, Baunatal is still struggling not to get into the relegation round, ”said Pallach on Thursday.

Since TuS Opladen did not register for the promotion round, the HSG is definitely qualified. It may not be known until March 16th whether the team will then play for the first two places in the North or South group. Because if Schalksmühle slips up again and the Eagles win their last three team duels, they would slip into the southern group as the front runners. “Especially in Corona times, you don’t know what else will happen,” said the coach.

Pallach only wants to look at his team at the end of the season: “We still have a few areas of development that we want to improve in the next three games. That includes dominating a game from the start and then putting the lid on it. I expect that from my team. After the many weekends without a competition, we worked out two or three things in training that we will also implement.”

Because of the cancellation of the game last Saturday, the coach gave his protégés a weekend off: “The boys only have Easter off until the end of the season. On the weekend after the second half of the season we will meet for a training camp with an overnight stay.”

After two athletic sessions on Monday and Tuesday, the preparation for the away game on Saturday (7:45 p.m.) at TuS Volmetal began. The Eagles won the first leg 37-24. Pascal Noll stood out with ten goals. Again, anything but a clear success would be a surprise. The TuS is actually always good for a surprise at home. But their hall fell victim to the flood disaster in the Hagen area. “Especially in handball, it’s important to play home games in your own hall,” says Pallach, who is visiting the Ischelandhalle with the Eagles on Saturday. But he doesn’t want the opponent to be taken lightly: “TuS works with its robust backcourt players and will throw everything in again to have the best possible starting position for the relegation round. The game is fought at the beginning. Then we have to take the reins and win the game.”
