HSC Kreuzlingen loses at Scout Winterthur, waits for an away point

Still unsuccessful away from home: HSC Kreuzlingen also loses at Scout Winterthur

The NLA men from HSC Kreuzlingen suffered a 29:33 defeat against Scout Winterthur on Wednesday evening. In the end, a mistake in the first half cost the Thurgauers their first away points at the fourth attempt.

The 19-year-old David Soos from Kreuzlingen scores a goal against Winterthur’s national goalkeeper Leonard Grazioli.

Scout Winterthur once again demonstrated its home strength in front of 686 spectators on Wednesday evening and achieved its third win in a row in the AXA Arena. With four-time national player Tim Rellstab, they had the outstanding attacker in their ranks. The 2.03 meter tall backcourt shooter made the difference with his 14 goals from 16 attempts.

Both teams started like fire engines and after eight minutes ten goals had already been scored – five on both sides. Up to 8:7 for the Winterthur team, the Kreuzlingen team seamlessly continued their good performance from Sunday against Thun (30:17 home win), at least on offense. However, at this point in time we had to criticize the inadequate defensive work, especially on the right side of the defense. Rellstab in particular enjoyed all the freedom and scored his sixth goal at 11:8 after a quarter of an hour.

After the break there is hope again

Shortly afterwards, Kreuzlingen’s coach Ralf Bader called a first timeout and reorganized his team. But the HSCK couldn’t get going for the time being. Technical errors, two missed penalties and several saves by national goalkeeper Leonard Grazioli in the Scout goal were the main reasons why the Winterthur team were able to pull away almost effortlessly. Within just ten minutes, Scout increased the lead from 10:8 to 17:10. During this phase, hardly anything fit together for the people of Thurgau. Coach Bader found clear words during the break in view of the 13:20 deficit. The defense was much more present after the restart.

It took Scout five and a half minutes to beat visiting goalkeeper Haris Berisha for the first time. With four goals in a row, the Kreuzlingen team had now closed the gap to 17:20 (35th). Even though Scout reacted immediately, they couldn’t shake off the Thurgau team completely. A good quarter of an hour later they were only three goals behind.

The first penalties of the game took the wind out of the HSCK’s sails. And after coach Bader changed his formation again, the Kreuzlingen team lost track, as they had in the first half. Ten minutes before the end, Winterthur was comfortably ahead 31:24. Kreuzlingen didn’t manage to do anything more than cosmetic results in the final phase. The best throwers at HSCK were Thomas Rink, Valon Dedaj and top scorer Eric Damböck with five hits each.

Next home game against Leader Kadetten

On Saturday at 6 p.m. Kreuzlingen welcomes the Cadets Schaffhausen for the second time in two weeks. The Thurgauers want to take revenge against the league leaders for the 28:29 defeat on September 21st. At that time, the Bader team was not rewarded for their strong performance.
