Hrochová improved her personal record from the April Republic Championship in Skalica by more than 52 seconds. At the same time, she placed third in the Czech tables behind Moira Stewartová and record holder Alena Peterková (32: 27.68). Hrochová confirmed her form this year, two weeks ago she secured a start at the Tokyo Olympics during her marathon debut.

The second Czech participant in the race, another marathon Olympian Marcela Joglová, resigned before the fifth kilometer. The main race was won by the British Eilish McColgan in the time of 31: 19.35.

Home star Mo Farah, who presented himself on the track for the first time since winning the World Championships in London 2017, did not succeed in the men’s race. The four-time Olympic champion wants to qualify for Tokyo, but he was far from the 27:28 limit. The 38-year-old native of Mogadishu finished eighth in 27: 50.54. It has until June 27 to meet the limit.

The race was won by the reigning European champion Morhad Amdouni from France (27: 23.27). B-run participants Jáchym Kovář and Marek Chrascina, who specialize more in steeple, finished in the top ten in personal records.
