If GERB wants the support of “Democratic Bulgaria“Democratic Bulgaria” is a center-right political association composed of(DB), it is necessary to go through the moment of truth with the chief prosecutor, on that we will not back down. This is what the co-chairman of the formation commented to reporters before the meeting of the parliamentary group of the DB Hristo Ivanov
He was born on September 13, 1974 in Sofia. Hristo Ivanov holds a Masters in Law from Sofia University.
It has identified three priorities, which will depend on DB’s possible parliamentary support for one or the other majority. The three priorities are security, legality and growth.
When we talk about legality we mean the judicial reform, the constitutional reform of the statute of the attorney general and the change of the judiciary. When we talk about security we mean the complete modernization of the Bulgarian defense and everything related to energy, services, which we call deputations, and when we talk about growth we mean policies aimed not only at redistributing inflationary resources, but at stimulating the economic growth, commented Ivanov.
He claimed that GERB wasted time making such commitments.
It’s not just about saying things, it’s about us trusting that they will be implemented. From this point of view, I don’t see how we could support a government with the first term of GERB. The GERB says nothing about judicial reform. I listen to them continue to act as if they don’t understand that this topic is fundamental to us and they want to talk about other things, on other occasions, he pointed out.
Ivanov announced that the votes for the president of parliament draw conclusions on the formation of one or the other majority. At the moment, DB sees no reason to rank with either majority, Ivanov stressed.
According to him, the problem is not so much in the personal qualities of the candidates for the presidency of the 48th National Assembly.
When asked which of the two he would prefer – Nikola Minchev or Rosen Zhelyazkov, Ivanov said they both have their qualities.
Nikola Minchev is a president who really deserves huge public support and we like him a lot. We also have good impressions from Mr Zhelyazkov, but I repeat: at the beginning it will be the question of political framing that will lead, Ivanov noted.
He announced that the DB will present a draft decision that will provide a framework for the entire security policy, including the provision of military technical assistance to Ukraine.
According to the DB co-chair, there is a risk that if this parliament fails to produce a government, President Radev’s next interim government will continue to exercise rather aggressive powers in terms of security.
