Hristo Hinkov announced that he will not remain a minister after the rotation

Health Minister Hristo Hinkov said he will not remain in office after the rotation.

“I don’t feel political support from the group that raised me. The “Pirogov” case was the final straw. It showed me that I will not be able to adequately manage this system, which needs reform.”Hinkov told journalists on Thursday before the meeting of the parliamentary health committee.

He did not specify who will succeed him in the post.

With his request, Hinkov becomes the first minister from the “Denkov-Gabriel” cabinet, who will certainly not keep his post after the upcoming rotation in March.

Minister Hinkov was subjected to a series of criticisms from the PP-DB coalition that aired him, the latest case being because of the discord in management that caused his attempt to replace the director of “Pirogov”. GERB and DPS opposed the change and threatened to boycott the adoption of the 2024 budget, and Finance Minister Asen Vassilev said that if a minister cannot secure support for the policy he is pursuing, it is best to resign instead of doing circuses and blocking the state.

Earlier in September, PP MP Vasil Pandov also called on him to resign, after Hinkov expressed disagreement with Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov’s personnel decisions regarding his team at the Ministry of Health.

Khinkov was also subjected to pressure and criticism from GERB, from where the question of his resignation was also raised more than once.
