The hockey players of Hradec Králové won the extra-league at home over Litvínov 2-0 at the start of the preliminary round of the play and succeeded in mutual fights for the sixth time in a row.
Forwards Aleš Jergl and Kelly Klíma took care of the goals, goalkeeper Marek Mazanec kept his 13th zero in the extra league in his career. The second duel of the series for three winners will be played on Thursday from 18:00 again in Hradec Králové.
The home team, to whom the defenders Blain and Jank returned to the team, rejoiced at the lead in the 3rd minute. After ten seconds, Jergl punished Irving’s disqualification just after Blain’s pass with a shot from the left circle at the nearest pole. In other dangerous situations, Godla pushed Lv’s attempt from the right side and, in the aftermath of Smoleň’s attempt and Koukal’s arrival, averted the puck from the goal area with Demel lying with his hands.
With Nedommel’s expulsion, he prevented Lukeš from settling at the end of Mazanec from the immediate vicinity. Godla then covered Sklenář’s chance and also managed to poke the puck after Zachar’s pass to Perret in the renumbering. Before the break, Mazanec covered two attempts by Hübl.
At the beginning of the second part, Godla was endangered by Sklenář and Orsava; on the other hand, Hanzl did not direct the puck in front of Mazance. The home-made Kelly Klíma did not succeed with the penetration either, and the Hradec Králové goalkeeper kicked out the Látala shot with a mask again. Godlu was not surprised by Perret’s embrace. Litvínov defended himself against the curious expulsion of Lukeš. The visiting striker was pushed through the door on the Hradec Králové substitution and passed from it on his own, his team received a penalty for a bad substitution.
With the signaled advantage, it was enough for the home team to deflect Hübl’s stop into the open goal. During Pavlík’s sentence, the situation did not change, as did Jarůšek’s stay on the penalty bench. During the weakening, Litvínov was able to settle. Lankal fouled Jank in the escape, but Zdrahal failed in a penalty shot against Mazanec. Then he resisted the pressure of Mountfield Godl again.
At the start of the third period after Smoleňák’s action, Koukal, who arrived, missed. Mountfield did not let his opponents stand a chance with his firm defense in the middle zone and defended himself even during Graňák’s penalty. In addition, in the 52nd minute, the East Bohemians secured the lead when Jergl’s attempt bounced off the back guard and Kelly Klíma from the right side overcame Godla from an angle.
Immediately, a bullet bar helped the guests after Lviv. In the 55th minute, he did not take the opportunity to reduce Pospíšil and the situation did not change even under pressure during the final power play, in which the guests played for two minutes after Janek’s elimination and in six against four.
Vítkovice won over Brno
The hockey players of Vítkovice entered the preliminary round of the playoffs of the extra league with Kometa Brno with a 2: 1 victory in overtime. Five minutes before the end of the regular time, the guests reacted to the leading goal of Lukáš Kovář with Peter Schneider’s equalizer, but from the first action of the extension, the Vítkovice shooter Dominik Lakatoš decided. The second match will be played in Ostrava on Thursday from 15:00.
Vítkovice also entered the series with its best gunner Lakatoš, who did not finish the last match due to injury and his participation was uncertain, but they lacked the medically indisposed goalkeeper Svoboda. And his deputy Dolejš had to face the opponent’s chance first. With 12 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after Bondra came through the middle, but his kick went wide.
The match bore all the hallmarks of a playoff start – a lot of fights, collisions in front of goals, emphasis on defense and few goal chances. Another significant threat to Dolejš was caused by Mueller in the 31st minute, but the home goalkeeper managed with his swing.
The home team were more active in shooting, but they did not prepare the first real chance until the end of the second part. Werbik made an unstoppable pass around the mantinel and in the pass from behind the gate, in the time of 38:58, the defender Kovář leaned uncatchable and opened the account of the series.
Even the first goal of the match on the fierce nature of the game did not change anything at all. Although Brno was pushing for the offensive, Vítkovice resisted without difficulty and it looked like they could handle the match. Five minutes before the end of the regular time, however, Schneider’s run turned an inconspicuous action into an important goal after Overseas throwing the puck into the goal.
There was an extension, which soon ended. The very first action brought Vítkovice’s goal: Lakmelš’s throw from the middle zone was not sustained by Vejmelka, Hruška returned the puck in front of the goal to Lakatoš, who decided with a bluff in the time of 60:16.
Olomouc won in Pilsen
The Olomouc hockey players won the first round of the preliminary round of the playoffs of the extra league on the ice of Pilsen 2: 1. For most of the matches, the more active guests were secured by a goal with two goals by forward Jan Káňa, who was passed by Lukáš Nahodil. The home goalkeeper of the Kohouts, Branislav Konrád, was overcome in the 53rd minute thanks to David Kvasnička, they did not manage to complete the turnaround. Olomouc thus undoed the debacle 1: 9 from Sunday’s match of the last round of the basic part. The series, played for three wins, continues on Thursday at 5:30 pm again in Pilsen.
The guests entered the match of knowledge better than in the last mutual measurement of forces. Already in the fifth minute, the healed Tomeček curled up in front of Frodl, but ended weakly. The home team did not catch up and only thanks to another intervention of the goalkeeper Frodl against the independent escape Káni resisted. With the elimination of Kvasnička in the 8th minute, the best scorer of the Hanáks in the basic part of Káň opened the score with a shot from the right circle.
Better skating guests continued to control the game. Frodl had difficulty setting off Nahodil’s attempt and Kani’s power play. Klimek did not punish the indiscipline of the Indians with a blow without preparation from the inner circle. At the end of the third, the first hint of the Pilsen chance was carried out by Gulaš, and the home captain ruined the promising numerical advantage of four to three with his foul.
Soon after a break in his own weakness, Konrad did not beat Eberle’s backhand bluff, and immediately on the other side, Nahodil hit the left stick. In the 25th minute, Káňa pushed through for the second time in the match, when he increased the score to 2 – 0 with an accurate shot into the upper left corner. Kodýtek was able to answer quickly during the Pilsen power play, but his attempt at the net was able to detonate Knotek at the last moment, and before the middle of the match Mertl aimed only closely at the right post.
The home team then opened the game in an effort to get a contact goal, which the guests used for breaks. Only the attentive Frodl saved the Indians from the disaster during the chances of Ostřížek, Nahodil and Kucser.
At the beginning of the final twenty-minute period, the Indians finally put their opponents under pressure, but Straka fired only the right post in a 47-minute position from a good position, and Kodýtek did not shoot Konrád in a moment on goal.
After a long interruption due to the replacement of the cracked plexiglass, the home team reduced the shots in the 53rd minute thanks to Kvasnička’s delivery of Eberle. The Passive Roosters subsequently became nervous, and Musil’s long attempt was stopped by the left rod. The guests have already survived the final Pilsen onslaught, supported by power play, and have taken the lead in the series.
