HP accidentally uses a macOS screenshot in an ad for its Windows laptops

Windows PC maker HP seems to think the “perfect laptop” is one with macOS, at least second Advertising for the company you promoted on Reddit. The announcement shows an HP laptop with a macOS screenshot in what appears to be a bug in a Photoshop feature.

“For digital nomads who work from anywhere but home (yes, see you), HP has the perfect laptops for any place you work,” the announcement reads. macOS screenshot showing Gmail inbox in Chrome, with the Apple logo in the menu bar.

Apple’s licensing agreements don’t allow macOS to run on PC, but there is a community of Hackintosh users who unofficially install macOS on PC. Apple allowed its he OS 7 to be licensed to other PC vendors in the mid-1990s, but the software was discontinued by Steve Jobs when he returned to the company.

Note that on desktop, the ad only appears on the “new” Reddit.
