– I am a bit disappointed with our overall performance, we know that we are individually capable of more, and in the end it probably led to a team performance that was ok, but not good enough against one of the best teams in the world, says Eddie Howe to NUFC TV.
The Newcastle coach was frustrated, as was the majority of St. James’ Park, when Liverpool took the lead after James Milner tackled Fabian Schär.
– Yes, I think so. Of course Fabian was down, we needed a man and that’s where the goal comes from. I have not seen the tackle again, I guess it is ok since WAS not looked at it.

– They had chances, shots on goal, Martin made some good saves, but they did not cut our defense properly. No massive periods of pressure, but the frustration was at the other end because it was the same. There was no lasting push from us. Our chances were few and far between.
Something positive to pick up
The 44-year-old thinks his team has come a long way since they lost 1-3 at Anfield in December. Since then, only Manchester City, Chelsea, Everton and Tottenham have managed to win over Howe’s squad. Both January and February ended without a league loss.
– I think there are positive things to bring. Defensively, I think we were pretty solid again. Individually, we were not at our best today. And like I said before, I think that was the frustration.

– I do not know how our match program has become like that, but the sprint of December was very difficult. The end of the season we knew would be the same. Now want to travel to Manchester City and know it’s going to be tough.
