How will the presidential election runoff schedule work?

May 14 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections have come to an end. Since none of the candidates vying for the presidency received 51 percent of the vote, the election was left to the second round.

Chairman of the Supreme Board of Elections Ahmet Yener announced the inconclusive results of the Presidential elections on live broadcast. The votes received by the candidates as of 15:15 were as follows:

  • Recep Tayyip Erdogan: 49.51 percent
  • Kemal Kilicdaroglu: 44.88 percent
  • Sinan Ogan: 5.17 percent
  • Muharrem Ince: 0.44 percent

The process for the second round of elections to be held on Sunday, May 28 will be as follows:

Tomorrow: The objection period to be made to the provincial election board against the decisions of the district election board and the merger minutes will end at 17.00 and the objections will be resolved by the provincial election boards until 23.59 at the latest.

May 17: Against provincial election board decisions and provincial merger minutes Supreme Election Board(YSK) appeal period will end at 17.00. Changes of ballot box committee and other officials by district election boards Election Information SystemWhat (SEÇSİS) processing will begin. The overseas district election board will change the storage and transportation board, ballot box committee and other officials, if any.

May 18: The appeals will be decided by the YSK.

May 19th: Final election results will be sent to the Official Gazette and relevant authorities by the YSK to be announced.

20 May: Voting will begin at customs gates and ballot boxes set up abroad.

May 24: Overseas voting will end. Radio and TV propaganda speeches will begin.

May 27: Election propaganda period will end at 18:00.

May 28: Voters will go to the polls to vote.

LOGS WILL BE UPDATED

YSK Chairman Ahmet Yener announced that before the 14 May elections, the number of domestic voters was 60 million 697 thousand 843 and the number of foreign voters was 3 million 416 thousand 498.

Since the second round will be carried out with updated registers, 47 thousand 523 people who are 18 years old and eligible to vote will go to the polls and vote for the first time.
