Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Selling online does not only refer to e-commerce. The existence of this platform seems to be threatened by the use of other applications, such as Telegram and WhatsApp.

Both of these applications actually serve the exchange of instant messages between customers. Selling on these two applications makes it easier for buyers to communicate with sellers.

Given that WhatsApp and Telegram are often used in day-to-day situations, their use in sales means shoppers don’t have to switch to other apps. Unlike buying on the marketplace, buyers must switch to these applications.

So far, however, neither WhatsApp nor Telegram have offered in-app purchases. Many sellers still use it as a way to connect with their buyers.

One of those who use Telegram to sell is Adel, the owner of an online store that sells bags and shoes. He also uses WhatsApp, Telegram and Instagram as communication channels. In addition to using the Tokopedia marketplace.

He said that the WhatsApp that was used was still the normal version. Because at the beginning of selling only using his personal number until now.

Apart from that, Adel also sells via Telegram. According to him, these communication channels are enough and he doesn’t feel the need to use WhatsApp Business yet.

“Actually, because in the beginning, it was sold by word of mouth, and also from friends share my number to another friend’s number, and so on. In the end, I was able to continue, initially this was a personal number, instead I made it a sales number,” he explained CNBC Indonesia.

“But since We also use Telegram, so I think Telegram is enough. And because my sales system also shares goods every day (every hour or even every few minutes), so I think buyers are also happier on Telegram because it’s more economical space storage their HP”.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also used by several online sellers. monitoring CNBC Indonesiaa number of online stores include their WhatsApp numbers, both regular and Business, on their social media profiles.

Most of them include the number to communicate further with the buyer. There are also those who have used the Catalog feature on WhatsApp Business, so that users can see the stock of goods being sold.

Meta also continues to develop WhatsApp Business. The company recently introduced two features for the service.

The first is the synchronization of ads from WhatsApp to two other Meta-owned applications, namely Facebook or Instagram. Users only need a WhatsApp Business account to create sales ads. Buyers also only click on the ad and are immediately connected to the WhatsApp Business number.

In addition, there is also a paid messaging feature. This feature allows sellers to send personalized messages to their customers.
