Regardless of how we find the result, what remains with many of us in the days that follow is a feeling of uncertainty – because we do not yet know who will rule us in the years to come. The drop is sucked, the federal election 2021 is over. Now that we have made our cross, it is up to the politicians to form a coalition. We can only watch from the sidelines. For some of us it feels like a hangover after a night of partying – even if not all of us celebrated the election results. That’s because we don’t yet know who will rule us in the future. Traffic light and Jamaica are considered the most likely coalitions – but there are other options.

But not everyone who lives in Germany was allowed to vote. Deutschlandfunk Nova reporter Borhan Akid is one of these over 9.7 millionwho were not allowed to vote because they do not have German citizenship. He believes that the results would have been different if people like him had been allowed to make their crosses. “What bothers me most is that
the results do not fully reflect our society. In my opinion, this is a gap in our democratic system, “says Borhan Akid.

We look to an uncertain future
Charlotte however, was allowed to vote and posted shortly before the election on Instagram: “I hope my parents will vote for my little sister (17).” She believes that only one parent ended up doing it. But she still believes that “parents now have a responsibility to protect their children’s lives.” In the podcast, Charlotte tells how she and her sister are feeling now and how they look to the future.
