Nationwide, 2,700 people volunteer at the Weisser Ring. 277 of them in Baden-Württemberg. But there could be many more and preferably younger than 60 years. Anyone interested in this work should have one thing above all: “The joy of dealing with people,” says state chairman Hartmut Grasmück in SWR Aktuell. Also important: “A little bit of life experience. And the ability to put yourself in the shoes of a crime victim.” Because that’s what the White Ring is mainly about: support and help for victims of crime, prevention and public relations. “You get everything else through further training and you don’t work alone, but in a team – and you help each other.” Hartmut Grasmück spoke to SWR Aktuell presenter Ulrike Alex about which age groups are suitable for volunteer work with the non-profit organization and what the care of crime victims actually looks like.
