The Museum of Modern Art in New York is one of the largest museums in the world. You will be able to discover major works by Picasso, Warhol, Matisse, Dali or Cézanne (see the sheet on the Museum of Modern Art).
And you really have no excuse not to take a tour: the New York Museum offers free admission every Friday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.!
An operation made possible by the sponsorship of the Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo, which offsets the price of tickets, usually set at $ 25.
Other side of the coin: who says free entry, says crowd … If you want to arrive for the doors opening at 4pm, you will have to show up well before because the queue is getting longer.
Note also that access for free admission is not in front of the museum’s main entrance on 53rd Street but on the other side, on the sidewalk of 54th Street. This little detail will save you time compared to those who will go to the main entrance first before having to go all the way back to 54th Street. ????
Advice to know
MoMA also gives advice for those who do not want to wait too long outside: “to avoid long queues, visitors are strongly encouraged to arrive after 6 pm”, explains the museum on its website. At 6 p.m., there are actually fewer people at the entrance, even though the museum is still open for 2 hours. To see therefore according to your strategy: if you want to go through the whole museum, arrive around 3 p.m. instead. Otherwise, for a quick overview, show up after 6 p.m.
Another tip: if you want to save time, do not bring bags larger than 27 cm x 38 cm x 13 cm because, otherwise, you will have to drop them off at the locker and wait again.
Last info: if you have an Explorer Pass, a Go Select Pass or a New York Pass, know that entry to MoMA is included in these 3 passes and you can therefore visit MoMA whenever you want. On the other hand, if you have a New York City Pass, the MoMA is not included in this pass and this free slot will allow you to save a lot of money!
