How to Use WhatsApp on a Laptop Without Internet

The multi-device support feature is currently only available in beta.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The WhatsApp short message application continues to present the latest features. Later, you can run accounts for up to four connected devices without requiring an internet connection from your phone.

Multi-device support is already under testing on Android and iOS devices. However, it is currently still in beta mode. Users will still have to wait before it launches worldwide.

Currently, you have to keep your phone connected to the internet in order to use WhatsApp. However, there is another way that you can use to connect on a laptop without internet from a cell phone in beta mode.

How to use the beta program

Reported India Today, Wednesday (24/11), joining the beta version will let you use WhatsApp on up to four connected devices. You don’t need to keep your primary phone connected to the internet. The chat message will appear immediately on the connected computer, on the desktop app or on the WhatsApp website.

To join the beta program, WhatsApp users can open the Settings option on the phone. Then select “Linked Devices” and tap “Join Beta under the section.” Upon successful joining, users will be able to link the device to their account.

How to use WhatsApp multi device support

Once you have enrolled in the beta program, the steps to use WhatsApp on the linked device are simple. First, you have to download the WhatsApp desktop application on your laptop or visit the official WhatsApp website, which is web.whatsapp.com.

Next, go to the Linked devices section of WhatsApp Settings on the phone, as done above. The settings page will have a “Line a device” option right in the middle. Click on that option so you can run the camera scanner on the app.

The website or desktop application that you open on the laptop will display a QR code. Just transfer this code with the phone’s camera and your account will be up and running on the new device immediately. As usual, all conversations via any of the linked devices will be end-to-end encrypted.

While enjoying the beta program, there are a few drawbacks to keep in mind. If your primary device is not connected to the internet and you are using WhatsApp on the linked system, you will not be able to delete messages or conversations from your account.

Also, when using a linked device, you can only exchange messages with users who are running the latest version of WhatsApp on their phone. There are two important things to keep in mind for using multi-device support.

First, among the four connected devices, there is none smartphone other. You can only run your WhatsApp account on one phone at a time. Others can be laptops or desktop computers. Second, all linked devices will be disconnected from WhatsApp account if you fail to use the main phone for more than 14 days. This means you should have WhatsApp running on your phone at least once every few weeks.

This feature in beta mode may cause some issues with app performance. If that happens, users can opt out of the beta program to return to the regular version of WhatsApp.
