Putri Silalahi, Communications Manager for Instagram Asia Pacific, said that the Chinese New Year is one of the important holidays that marks a new beginning and brings family and friends together for Instagram users in Indonesia.
The pandemic makes our space limited in celebrating important moments directly, including the Chinese New Year.
Instagram wants its users to still be able to connect with their loved ones and closest relatives despite the pandemic and share exciting moments through a series of stickers and AR filters specifically for the #YearBaruMacan celebration.

Here are Chinese-themed stickers and AR Filters
Tiger new year themed stickers
Instagram teamed up with @opheliapangg, a 3D creator, illustrator, and co-founder of CGI company from Hong Kong, to create a trio of tiger stickers with bold and mischievous characters colored to match the festive Lunar New Year.
Stories of users who wear this sticker will also be included in the group of combined Stories (Multi-Author Stories). Until then, Instagram users can see the exciting moments of Hari Raya Imlek shared with each other.
To access these stickers, Instagram users simply select the smiley icon at the top of their Stories page.
Face filters
In addition, Instagram also added to the festivities by launching a face filter with the theme of the New Year of the Tiger for its users to capture the moment of the Chinese New Year celebration to be more lively and exciting.
Here are the steps to find and use this AR filter:
1. Visit the ‘Stories’ page and select “Browse Effects”
2. Look for the “Happy Lunar New Year” filter by @apacculturalmoments
3. Press “Try It” to try the filter
4. Filters can be used with both front and rear cameras
5. Filters can be saved in the Story camera gallery for easy reuse.

Users can also express themselves by using a number of favorite hashtags when sharing warm moments of this year’s Chinese New Year with family and relatives, such as #Imlek2022, #MyLunarNewYear2022, #TahunBaruImlek, and #TahunBaruMacan.
