Instagram announced that link stickers are rolled out for everyone on the Stories feature. Previously available to businesses and influencers, anyone can now create a Story and attach a web link to it, making it much easier for anyone to find their favorite product or brand.
Instagram Stories allow a user to create a quick snapshot of what they may have seen on their travels, and that Story can last up to 24 hours, when it expires. Similar to Snapchat Stories, this feature has been quickly adopted by Instagram users since its debut in 2016.
Now available to anyone, creators can use them to provide access to external content, sellers can use them to link to goods for sale, and anyone can use them to link to a site that provides information. additional or context for his Story.
Stickers have long played an important role in many messaging apps and social media platforms, and Instagram is no stranger in this regard. Most of the time, stickers are just fun aesthetic additions to an image, but they can be useful too. In addition to comic book style stickers, users have been able to add location, question, and poll stickers to their Stories for some time.
If this sounds a bit familiar to you, it’s because link sharing isn’t a totally new feature. However, so far the option of sharing links by “swipe-up” in the Stories was only available to a limited number of people – specifically verified users and those with a certain number of subscribers.
A very simple process!
With the feature now available, you might be wondering how to use it. In short, it’s very simple, and very much like adding other special stickers to your Stories.
- Launch the Instagram app on your device
- Start a new Story and capture the content you want to include
- Tap the sticker icon at the top of the screen
- Tap the Link sticker
- Enter the address you want to link to and tap Done.
- Reposition, recolor and personalize the sticker however you want.
- Publish your Story
It’s good to see Instagram making this option available to everyone. The whole idea of the social media platform is to bring people together, and by giving everyone access to the same tools, Instagram is helping to level the playing field a bit. And as a bonus, the link stickers are really great. practical to have!
However, Instagram doesn’t plan to let users go wild with this newfound freedom. You still won’t be able to post links to your traditional photo posts. Additionally, users who frequently violate company community guidelines will have their access to the link stickers removed. Other than that, we can say goodbye to “Link in Bio” for good.
