How to unlock characters for free in Genshin Impact – Saudi Gamer

In Genshin Impact, you start the game with just one character, a Traveler, but over time, you expand your roster by adding more characters, each with their own unique abilities. Usually, this is done by fulfilling a Wish on gacha flags, but if you want to fulfill a large number of wishes, you will have to spend money. Fortunately, there are some free characters that you can get to support your team’s growth.

It’s worth noting that three of the characters mentioned below (Amber, Kaeya, and Lisa) rarely appear on gacha banners. It is very rare to get horoscopes for these characters.

Our Genshin Impact guide includes the free characters you can get, as well as some information on how to get them and how to use them.

The Traveler (Aether/Lumine) – Anemo, Geo, Electro, Dendro, or Hydro swordsman

When you start Genshin Impact, you can choose a male (Aether) or female (Lumine) character. This character is usually called “Traveller” and is the hero of the game. They don’t need to be used on your team, but they will appear in most scenes later on.

The character starts with an Anemo item, but once you reach different areas, you can unlock items specific to each area. Going to Liyue unlocks Geo abilities, going to Inazuma unlocks Electro abilities, going to Sumeru unlocks Dendro abilities, and going to Fontaine unlocks Hydro abilities. You can change the character item by visiting the Seven icon in the respective area.

Note that as of this writing, the Traveler character does not have Pyro abilities, despite having access to Natlan. The Pyro form will likely be added to the character in a later update.

Amber – uses a bow with the Pyro element

Amber is the second character you meet in the game. After meeting Paimon, follow the introductory quest and you will quickly meet Amber. You can’t go ahead and explore the world without recruiting Amber, so follow the main story missions to recruit her.

Amber is known as one of the weakest characters in the game, but her ability to shoot Pyro-infused arrows will help you solve many of the puzzles spread throughout Teyvat.

Kaeya – A Cryo elemental sword user

Kaeya is the third character to join your team. Shortly after you meet Amber and enter Mondstadt, you will receive several quests. One of these missions, Crash Course, asks you to meet Kaeya in a temple. Follow the objective marker and meet him at the fort. After a short tutorial on how to use Kaeya and the characters with the Cryo item, you complete the mission and recruit him to your team.

Like Amber, Kaeya is not a strong character, but his Cryo abilities will help you solve puzzles in the early stages. Additionally, his Glacial Waltz ability can be useful in a special team.

Lisa – Catalyst user with Electro element

The way to get Lisa is very similar to the way to get Kaeya. Once you visit Mondstadt, you will get a quest called Sparks Among the Pages. Follow the quest marker to another temple, and enter it. As in the Crash Course mission, you will be tutored on Lisa, and then she will join your team after you complete the mission.

Like the other two, Lisa isn’t one of the best Electro characters you can get, but you’ll definitely need her to solve Electro-related puzzles in the early stages of the game.

Xiangling – Polearm user with Pyro element

When you reach Adventure Rank 20, you’ll unlock Spiral Abyss, a floor-based dungeon where you take your party through increasingly difficult floors and earn some rewards as you go. . If you can pass Floor 3, Room 3 in Spiral Abyss, you will get a free Xiangling.

Xiangling is considered the best free character, and she still has a huge role in the meta, as her Pyronado ability allows her to maintain consistent damage even when she is out on the field. . And with Bennett, another four-star prospect, she remains a key piece on many teams.

Noelle – Claymore user with the Geo element

Noelle is technically “free”, as she is guaranteed by the beginner’s gacha flag. You can make a Wish on this flag and you won’t get it if you wish.

There are only five Geo characters permanently available in the game besides Traveller, so getting Noelle is a good choice, especially if you need to solve Geo related puzzles. You can also change them to be powerful and deal massive damage if you want.

Collei – bow wielder with the Dendro element

Like Xiangling, you can get free Collei by progressing through Spiral Abyss. You have to go past Floor 4, Room 3, which requires more progress than you need to get Xiangling.

Collei is a great support with the Dendro item, as he can apply Dendro effectively and help you solve puzzles related to this item quickly, especially if your travel is set to the appropriate object.

Lynette – Anemo sword wielder

You can get Lynette for free once you reach Adventure Rank 25 or higher, and you can claim her from the normal events screen.

Lynette is a great Anemo support and can be used in a similar way to Kazuha or Sucrose; She puts her skills on the field to provide wide areas of Swirl damage effects when combined with other items.

Other characters for free through events

Sometimes, limited time events offer free characters (or towers if you already have the character). Until now, rewards from main events have been limited to four-star characters, but they can be useful if you don’t have powerful and important characters like Xingqiu or Bennett.

The characters available during these events usually reflect the area in which the event takes place. For example, a big event in Mondstadt might reward characters like Barbara or Noelle, and an event in Liyue might reward characters like Ningguang or Beidou. In any case, it is worth following the events to get free characters.

During the game’s 4th Anniversary Event, players could choose a custom five-star character (Dehya, Keqing, Mona, Qiqi, Jean, Tighnari, or Diluc) for free. This was the only time the game offered a five-star character for free, but we can expect something similar in future anniversary events.
