Cell phone iPhone from Apple has a number of security features that make it trackable by users if the device is lost.

If your phone is lost because it was stolen, the thief will likely turn off the iPhone. However, Apple’s tracking features can still be used to trace the last location of your iPhone.

Meanwhile, if the cellphone is not turned off, the iPhone will still provide its current location, even if the cellphone is offline.

The first way that can be used to track an iPhone is by using an Apple Watch. However, this method is limited to very short distances.

Quoted from the page Apple supporthere are some ways to track a lost iPhone:

iCloud

Users can use iCloud to search for their lost iPhone via the iCloud.com/find page.

When you enter the page, you may be asked to enter a verification code sent to your device. If you lose the only device that can receive the code, select the Find Devices button instead of entering the code.

As a note, when using iCloud.com/find, you can’t find a device’s location if the device is turned off, the battery is dead, or it’s been more than 24 hours since the location was last sent to Apple.

Apart from searching for a lost iPhone, this feature can also mark the iPhone as a lost device and delete data on the iPhone remotely.

Find My application

The next way is to use the Find My application. The first step you must take is to download the Find My application on another Apple device.

In the Find My application, you will find the device list section. Select the device you want to track.

If the Find My app cannot display the current location because the phone is turned off or not sending its location, Find My will display the last location sent by the device or the last known location on the Find My network.

Then, if more than seven days have passed since your device last sent its location to Apple via the Find My network, then the Find My app cannot display the location and will display “No location found.”

If your device is online but cannot send its location, for example, if there is a problem with Location Services, Find My cannot display the location and will display “Not sharing location – Online.”

Family Sharing

With Family Sharing, you can share your location with members of your Family Sharing group and help them find lost devices.

When a group admin sets up location sharing in the Family Sharing settings, the admin’s location is automatically shared with everyone in the family, including new members added.

However, family members in the group can then choose whether or not to share their location.

When you share your location with your family, they can see your location in their Find My app.

With this feature, devices belonging to your family members can track your lost iPhone.
