He Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) provided recommendations to the population on how to store water to be used during the dry season.
The authorities stress the importance of taking advantage of rainwater to be used in seasons of scarcity of this vital resource. This, given the current rainy season on the national territory.

The amount of water that can be stored and its use will depend on the intensity of the rain, its extension, and the area of the site that captures the rain.

Recommendations for storing rainwater
Through the Agricultural Strategic Information Center, MAGA recommends:
- Place channels that lead from the ceiling to the container where the liquid is to be stored. These can be made by hand.
- Store collected water in clean containers and cover them (plastic or stainless steel containers).
- Place filters and meshes to prevent the liquid from being contaminated with leaves, dust or animals.
- The water that is stored can be used to irrigate crops or for human consumption.
- In case of human consumption, it is necessary to treat the water to eliminate bacteria or microorganisms harmful to health. Boil water for 5 to 10 minutes or add 15 drops of bleach per gallon.
In addition, MAGA mentions that the amount of water resources stored and its use will depend on the intensity and length of the rain, the area in which it is collected, the type of soil, and the conditions of the surrounding vegetation.
