Automatic file downloads can be annoying for some users.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Messaging application Whatsapp continues to be a popular social media among its users. Apart from sending messages and phone or video calls, Whatsapp also offers features to share files, documents, and other media, such as photos and videos with other users.
However, it can be annoying when an unwanted or unnecessary file is automatically saved in your phone gallery. Because, this will fill the storage space on the phone. For this problem, Whatsapp offers a solution so that Android or iPhone users can disable automatic downloads. Here are the steps, as reported by Times of India, Sunday (26/12):
1. Open Whatsapp and go to Settings.
2. Tap Storage and Data.
3. You will see Media Auto Download options for Photos, Audio, Videos, and Documents.
4. You can change the function to “Never” for each media individually.
Doing this will stop Whatsapp from automatically downloading media files that are shared in individual chats or via group chats. Only the files you select can be downloaded manually.

2. Tap the Chats section
3. Turn off the “Save to Camera Roll” option.
