We are increasingly aware of our online safety. We process more difficult passwords, we change them regularly … but how often do you change your smartphone passcode? You can set up a new code in just a few steps.
“Your smartphone contains all your data. Therefore, change your passcode regularly.
Step 1 / Enter the code
Of course, you have the option to activate facial recognition on your smartphone: a safe and fast choice. Once this doesn’t work (due to poor lighting, or for example wearing sunglasses), or if you hand over your device to your partner or children, you have access via a code. If criminals see this code, they can use it to access all of your data. So change it regularly!
Step 2 / The menu
On your iPhone, go to Settings and scroll down to the Face ID and Passcode feature. You will be asked to enter your code for verification. And no, facial recognition doesn’t work here. You really need to know the old code.
Step 3 / Options
In the Face ID and Passcode menu you have several options that you can activate with facial recognition and with the code. Here you can also set the functions for voice control when the smartphone is locked. Most of the options speak for themselves. We want to change the code and therefore opt for the Change Access Code feature.
Step 4 / Change the code
Before a new code can be set, the old code must also be entered. Safety first of all! Before we find a new code, we would like to highlight the Passcode Options feature, which you will see on the screen where you enter the new code. Here you can choose to use a 4-digit code, a custom numeric code (which can be any number of digits) or even a custom alphanumeric code. The latter is the safest and can consist of letters and numbers. The downside to this is that entering is less easy than with numbers alone. The choice is yours.
