I never have the latter with 11 Home.
On 11 Pro, removing the cable does result in an option for a local account, but with Home I can still use the command prompt every time because even without the cable, it still demands an MS account.
And I’ve experienced this dozens of times, so am I doing something wrong or something? (Never tried Rufus so I’ll remember that, always used Universal UDB Installer until now)
@!mark I see pushing the entire MS account as the biggest “dark pattern”, it would be to MS’s credit if they tackled it just like Android, where your account is purely intended for the extra services, and not that your PC is held hostage behind this account.
So log in purely for the store, office, xbox, email and so on, but your account is local (that’s how I have it in Windows 10 now, local account for PC and logged in to the store for my games)
It’s still possible in W11, except MS keeps pushing that miserable account before you get there.
