How to Set Maximum Data Limit on Android to Save Money on Data Packages

Techno.id – For most people, data packages are still considered expensive. For those who have enough budget, maybe they will choose a postpaid package. Meanwhile, people who have limited finances will usually choose a prepaid package.

Many people arrange their packages to last up to a month with one purchase. But sometimes the package runs out before one month. Usually this condition occurs when the user uses data packages more often because the Wi-Fi network is not available.

It could also be because users accidentally stream music and watch videos when connected to a 4G LTE or 5G network, which results in the data quota that should be able to be used for one month but runs out prematurely.

The good news is that modern versions of Android devices now have features designed to eliminate this problem. But users have to turn it on manually to protect cellular data from accidentally running out.

How to set maximum data limit on Android

Android comes with several built-in monitoring and data storage features. There’s a cellular data usage menu, for example, that shows users how much data has been used during one billing cycle. Users can even find out details of which applications use this data.

Users can reduce data usage by setting a maximum data limit. Here’s how.

1. Open Settings.

2. Tap Cellular Data.

3. Tap Data Usage.

4. Tap “Billing cycle and data alerts.”

5. Tap the toggle switch next to “Set data limit” to enable the feature.

6. Tap Data Limit.

7. Type the data limit you want to set. For example, type 1 to set a data limit of 1 GB.

8. Tap OK.

The limit you should set depends on the amount of high-speed data you get per month and the amount you want to leave in reserve for emergencies. For example, if you get a total of 6 GB of high-speed cellular data per month, you can set a data limit of 2 GB.

Once the limit is reached, the phone will stop using cellular data. This will prevent you from using up all your data if you accidentally consume content while connected to a cellular network instead of Wi-Fi. You can increase the limit manually after reaching the initial limit.
