When preparing cheesecakes, eggs are traditionally used as a binding ingredient. But what if you don’t have them at hand or for some reason you decide to give them up? In fact, there are several alternative options that will not only give the cheesecakes the desired consistency, but also improve the taste of the dish.
Cheesecakes are a great option for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They have a delicate and soft texture and a sweetish taste. Cheesecakes are rich in protein, calcium and other beneficial nutrients found in cottage cheese. They can be a great source of energy and will help you feel full and satisfied.
The recipe for cheesecakes is quite simple and does not require much time or complex ingredients. You can easily prepare them at home even if you are not an experienced cook.
According to the traditional recipe, you will need:
- cottage cheese (fat content 9%) – 400 g;
- eggs – 1-2 pcs.;
- sugar – 3-4 tbsp. L.;
- salt – 1 pinch;
- flour – 3 tbsp. L.;
- vegetable oil – for frying.
Combine cottage cheese, eggs, sugar and salt in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Then add 2 tbsp. heaps of flour and mix again. Form into balls, roll in flour and place in a heated frying pan. Fry on both sides until golden brown.
However, what if you suddenly don’t have eggs at home, or you don’t want to use them? Everything is very simple, they can be easily replaced with three products to choose from.
Oatmeal
You can use either oatmeal or ground oatmeal. The fact is that this product will do an excellent job of binding the remaining ingredients of cheesecakes.
In addition, the dish will not only be tasty, but also more healthy.
By the way, if you use oatmeal, you won’t need flour.
For 100 g of cottage cheese you need approximately 20 g of oatmeal. That is, for 400 g of cottage cheese – 80 g of oatmeal.
Semolina
Semolina will give the cheesecakes a lighter, airier texture and will also ensure that they retain their shape both during frying and after cooling, which can be difficult to achieve even with the addition of eggs.
For 100 grams of cottage cheese you will need 1 tbsp. semolina; for 400 grams of cottage cheese – 4 tbsp. decoys.
If you decide to replace eggs with semolina, then you also don’t have to use wheat flour.
Banana
Another great option is to use a banana instead of eggs. The one that is already a little overripe is perfect. Simply mash the fruit and mix with the rest of the ingredients.
Cheesecakes with banana will turn out incredibly light and tasty.
For 400 grams of cottage cheese you need one medium fruit.
