How to remove Quick Add on Snapchat – Juice Mobile

If you’re new to Snapchat but not to social media platforms in general, then the Quick Add feature should be more than familiar to you. Think of it like Facebook’s friend suggestion list.

The Quick Add feature is Snapchat’s way of suggesting people with similar interests or connections to users. Its algorithm is a bit confusing, so not all suggestions are worth considering. This article contains everything you need to know about quick add, including how to turn it off as a feature and how to prevent it from appearing in someone else’s quick add list.

Disable Quick Add

If you don’t want to be bombarded with too many friend requests, you might want to consider turning off Quick Add. This is how you can do it:

  1. Open Snapchat.
  2. Tap on your profile picture.
  3. Tap the gear icon.
  4. Scroll down the Settings menu until you reach the “Who Can…” section.
  5. Tap “See me in Quick Add”.
  6. Uncheck the option.

However, this won’t stop Snapchat from continuing to show you suggestions of other people you might want to add via the Quick Add feature. This method only prevents your account from appearing on other people’s lists.

Please note that a friend request sent through Quick Add will not be blocked by the settings you make in the “Contact Me” menu.

Disable quick add notifications

Most people will probably just tap the “X” next to the suggested profiles and go about their day. While there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s worth knowing that there’s a faster way to use Snapchat’s friend suggestion feature.

If you want to receive fewer friend suggestions, you need to change the app permissions in the notification section of your account.

Here is how to do it:

  1. Open Snapchat.
  2. Tap on your profile picture.
  3. Tap the gear icon.
  4. Tap “Notifications.”
  5. Uncheck “Friend Suggestions”.

There is no section specifically dedicated to Quick Add suggestions. However, since all those suggestions appear as notifications, turning off friend suggestion notifications should work.

This will, in theory, prevent Snapchat from sending you friend suggestions to quickly add to your friends list, even though you may have shared interests or common friends with those people.

Who could end up on your quick add list?

It is not known how exactly Snapchat’s algorithm takes into account various metrics to get the results it gets when it comes to the Quick Add feature. However, there are a couple of obvious metrics that are taken into account.

For example, if you have someone’s phone number in your contact list but haven’t added them to your Snapchat friends list yet, that person could end up as a Quick Add suggestion.

Friends of your friends can also end up on this list. So could the people you spend time with in various groups. Although they may not have directly communicated with each other and even if they do not have other mutual friends.

Two More Privacy Tips

Depending on how you rate your Snapchat activity or how you are as a person, outgoing or private, you should also consider the following privacy settings.

The “Who can contact me” option allows you to set some restrictions on who can send you Snaps and who can send you messages.

Using the “My Friends” option is probably best if you’re a private person. On the other hand, if you are more outgoing and looking to meet as many people as you can on Snapchat, then use the “Everyone” option.

That way, everyone who comes across one of your snaps or comments can send you a request, snap, and group invite.

Fast Aggregate or Not Fast Aggregate

There’s no denying that the Quick Add feature can be a great way to meet new people. At the same time, it’s surely more annoying than helpful for those who think their friends list is too long.
