How to register for the RASE to keep electricity and gas subsidies

Many households in Argentina could face a significant increase in their gas and electricity bills if they do not complete the corresponding procedures to maintain state subsidies. The National Government and energy distribution companies have warned that the final deadline for these procedures is Wednesday, September 4.

Following the initial announcement, it was reported that the energy subsidy was granted on a provisional basis and was scheduled to expire on August 5. However, this date was extended until September, giving families a few extra days to complete the necessary registration. This process must be completed through an online registration and allows the financial aid to be kept as long as certain current requirements are met.

The impact of losing the subsidies will be considerable, as current beneficiaries will see their bills rise significantly. In recent months, both the government and the distribution companies have used various communication channels to inform users about the importance of carrying out this task on time.

The government has assured that, despite the extension, the process to maintain the subsidies is simple and accessible, conditioning the continuity of the bonuses to the fulfillment of the requirements and registration in the digital system enabled for this purpose.

To complete the registration, the process requires a series of essential data that must be provided to the system. Among the requested information, it is necessary to have the meter and customer numbers that can be found on the utility bills, in addition to having on hand the DNI and CUIL of each member of the household over 18 years of age. It is also important to include the out-of-pocket income of each of these members, an email address and a cell phone number.

The procedure is carried out by entering the Government website and selecting the option “Register for RASE”. Once all the family’s personal, work and financial information has been entered, as well as the data identifying the services to be subsidized, the system will send an email confirming the registration and detailing the procedure number, which must be saved for future procedures.

“N2” users who have not yet registered must do so urgently

Authorities emphasize that this procedure operates as a sworn statement, which requires users to complete the information “without omitting or falsifying any data.” In addition, the National State will verify the veracity of the data provided through various sources before granting the benefit, to ensure the accuracy of the information.

For those who have questions or problems during the registration process, assistance has been arranged at the ANSES offices or through the toll-free number 0800-222-7376.

According to the Energy Secretariat, all households categorized as “N2” that have not yet registered with the RASE must do so before September 4.

However, not all “N2” users need to complete this procedure. Those who have already registered previously and are receiving the corresponding subsidies will not need to register again to continue benefiting. However, if there have been changes in the previously declared situation, it is recommended that they update their data.

Users whose homes are classified as “N2” have until September 4 to register and obtain the level of subsidy that corresponds to them.

For Edenor users, confirmation of the subsidy can be found in the middle of the invoice, specifically in the “Customer Information” section, located to the right of the Contact Channels section and below the Settlement and Total to Pay items.

The categorization of subsidies depends on the level of household income

Edesur users, on the other hand, will find this information at the top of the bill, to the right of the bar graph that shows the monthly evolution of electricity consumption and just below the amount to be paid corresponding to the first or second due date.

The categorization of the subsidy allocation is based on three levels stipulated by the energy authorities. Users with a more vulnerable economic situation will be able to remain in the N2 segment (highly subsidized), while those with medium incomes will move to level N3 (less subsidized) and those with high incomes will be categorized in level N1 (no subsidy).
