Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Japanese game console manufacturer, Sony reportedly opened a beta trial program on the latest software update PlayStation 5 before launching later this year.
Sony invites users to register on the available site, https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps5/ps5-beta-program-sign-up/.
Users over the age of 18 living in the United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany and France can sign up for the PS5 beta program. They will be selected and the company has not disclosed how many people will be accepted into the program.
But the main goal is to let users try out new features and provide feedback, before updates are released to the public.
If someone is selected, the user is required to have a PS5 device with an internet network connection, and have a PlayStation Network account. Once selected, participants will receive an email with instructions on how to download the beta version.
Quoted Gizmodo, selected registrants will be automatically registered for future beta trials.
However, Sony did not reveal any of the new features or services it is testing.
However, Sony promises to provide more info about its latest features in the coming weeks.
It is rumored to be bringing a series of new features, such as support for storing PS5 games on an external hard drive, cross-generational Share Play with PS4, new personalization options, and much more.
After the launch of the PS5, one of the features that was not yet available was support for installing an additional SSD, in the console expansion bay.
Sony plans to release a list of wearable SSDs, with the PS5. This was done because the PS5 only has 667GB of storage. Thus, any steps to provide additional space will be taken.
Quoted The Verge, long before Sony, Microsoft has allowed Xbox gamers to test the software to be released.
The pilot program has been carried out for years, through a program called Insider. Usually in those programs, companies initiate visual updates to dashboards and other hidden features.
