The risk of lung disease increases in the winter, due to lower temperatures and increased humidity, which creates an ideal environment for the proliferation of viruses and bacteria that infect the respiratory system.

In the report, we review the most important tips for protecting the lungs from diseases in the winter, according to what Dr. Magdy Badran, member of the Egyptian Society of Allergy and Immunology, said in a special statement to “Al-Khaleej 365.”

He added that there are some tips that help you protect yourself from lung diseases in the winter, which are as follows:

1- Get the influenza vaccine.

2- Wash hands well with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing.

3- Avoid people with colds.

4- Keep your mouth and nose covered when going out in cold weather.

5- Make sure to drink plenty of warm fluids.

6- Cleaning the nose with salt water solution.

He pointed out that there are drinks that should be consumed to reduce the risk of infection, which are as follows:

Inhale natural herbal tea before drinking it because it boosts immunity.

1- Natural fruit juices

Natural fruit juices help boost immunity and get rid of accumulated secretions and phlegm, because they contain vitamin C and antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, such as orange, guava, and tangerine.

2- Eat soup

Eating soup helps relieve congestion and clear the sinuses, such as chicken soup with some fresh vegetables and herbs added, while eating it and inhaling the resulting steam.

3- Drink herbal tea

Eating ginger with lemon sweetened with honey is an effective natural drink that enhances immunity, and ginger tea is beneficial for the sinuses, as it provides antioxidants, antibacterials, anti-inflammatory and natural anti-allergies, which support lung health.

In addition to some other drinks that protect against lung diseases, such as the following:

1- Guava leaf.

2- Chamomile.

3- Fennel fruits.

4- Licorice root.

5- Turmeric.

6- Cinnamon.
