How to Prevent and Manage Singapore Flu Outbreaks: Tips from Pediatrician Edi Hartoyo

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Singapore Flu can be transmitted through direct contact with an infected person, so it is important to know how to prevent transmission.

Pediatrician Edi Hartoyo said maintaining personal and environmental cleanliness is the main key in Singapore’s flu prevention efforts.

“Because transmission can be via droplets, it is almost the same as Covid-19. It is very important to maintain sanitation, both yourself and the environment,” said Edi at the IDAI Media Briefing online event Tuesday (2/4).

Edi said that currently there is no specific vaccine for Singapore flu. Therefore, self-care is very important to help reduce the risk of becoming infected and spreading the virus.

“There is no vaccination yet. Even though there has been a lot of research outside, there is actually no specific vaccination for the Singapore flu virus,” he said.

According to Edi, although this virus can heal on its own without requiring specific treatment, we can reduce the risk by learning how to prevent it.

The following are efforts that can be taken to prevent transmission of Singapore flu:

1. Maintain personal and environmental hygiene

2. Wash your hands regularly, especially after interacting with someone who may be infected.

3. Use a mask when in public places or interacting with many people.

4. Routinely clean objects that are frequently touched using disinfectant, such as door handles, cutlery and other items.

5. Maintain a good diet and nutritional intake.

6. Make sure to eat foods that are rich in nutrients, such as carbohydrates, protein, fruit and vegetables.

7. Take vitamins to increase endurance.

8. The key is to maintain personal hygiene, the environment, as well as good diet and nutrition so that we can reduce the negative impact of the Singapore flu.

So, even though the Singapore flu is contagious, it can be prevented in various ways, one of which is by maintaining cleanliness and managing your diet well.
