Ammon – Over the years, our beloved traditional meals remain the same, but is there anything better than a simple rice meal prepared with vegetables? Rice is a staple food in many cultures around the world, and although it is rich in starches, combining it with vegetables gives the body the nutrients it needs after a long, hard day.
This recipe will provide you with two distinct ways to prepare rice with vegetables:
1. Rice with vegetables and minced meat:
the components:
– Two cups of soaked long rice.
– Four carrots, cut into small cubes.
– A cup of split peas.
– An ounce of minced meat.
– A liter of chicken stock or water.
– Two tablespoons of vegetable ghee.
– A teaspoon of salt (as desired).
– Half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
– Quarter teaspoon ground black pepper.
Method:
– In a pot, add ghee and heat it, then add the minced meat until it is well fried.
– Add the carrots until they are slightly cooked, then the peas, salt and chicken stock.
– After soaking the rice, add it to the pot and reduce the heat.
– Leave it until the rice is completely cooked.
– Serve hot with yoghurt and green salad.
2. White maqluba:
the components:
– Two cups of Egyptian rice.
– A small head of cauliflower.
– Three carrots, chopped.
– A sweet green pepper.
– A small onion.
– A crushed garlic clove.
– A teaspoon of mixed spices.
– Teaspoon salt.
– Two Maggi cubes.
– quarter tea spoon of black Peper.
Method:
– Heat the oil in a pot, then add the onions until they turn brown.
– Add water, maggi cubes, and bay leaves.
– Add spices, black pepper, and salt.
– In a frying pan, stir cauliflower, carrots and green peppers.
– Put it in the pot, then add the crushed garlic.
– Add the rice over the vegetables and hot chicken stock.
– Leave it until it is completely cooked.
– Serve upside down with yoghurt and salad.
