How to open any jar: four useful tips

OBOZ.UA has prepared tips on how to uncork stubborn lids without much effort.

Knock and twist

To open any stubborn jar, lightly tap the lid on a hard surface, such as a countertop. This tapping will help break the seal and make it easier to open the jar. If the lid slips out of your hands, use a rubber glove or rubber band for better grip.

Pierce the lid

To break the seal, carefully pierce the lid with a knife. In this case, you will have to find a new lid and throw away the old one.

Knife

For jars with plastic lids, you can use a butter knife or other similar kitchen tool. Carefully insert a knife between the lid and the jar, pressing lightly to release the seal. Do this around the lid to loosen it further.

Rinse the lid under hot water

First, run the lid under hot water to expand it. Then take a towel or rubber glove to better grip the lid and twist it counterclockwise. Apply constant pressure and don’t give up.
