When we are browsing the Internet, there are many tabs that we can open. In general, when we are browsing a site with multiple links, we can click on them to open them in different tabs in the background which we will look at later. Alternatively, we can configure Safari so that when we open a new tab, it automatically becomes the active tab.
How to make new tabs active in Safari on Mac and iPad?
The tab management and, in general, the web browsing habits are quite personal, so it is always welcome to have options for Safari to adapt to our needs. By default, when we open a new tab on the iPhone, it becomes the active tab; when we do it on iPad and Mac, it stays in the background.
On iPhone, it is not possible to change this setting, however, on Mac and iPad it is. You just need to follow these steps:
- Open Safari on our Mac.
- From the Safari menu, choose Preferences.
- Go to the Tabs section.
- Activate or deactivate When a new tab or window opens, make it active.
On the iPad the system is very similar, you can do it like this:
- Open the Settings app on our iPad.
- Enter Safari.
- Disable or enable Open new tabs in the background.
It’s that simple. With this setting, we can configure Safari on our devices to handle new tabs exactly as we want. And if at any time we change our mind, just repeat the previous steps.
