How to make delicious orange jam? Found 2 simple recipes

Orange is a bright and juicy fruit that can be eaten plain or used to create various desserts and preserves. An excellent way to preserve its taste and aroma for a long time is to make jam. There are several methods, but some require too much time and effort. We found a recipe that doesn’t require any special cooking skills.

How to prepare oranges for jam?

To begin with, it is worth noting that oranges are usually chemically preserved. Therefore, regardless of the further preparation method, it is important to thoroughly wash or even peel the fruit.

First, scald the oranges to remove the coating that is usually applied to the fruit before shipping. Then wash them thoroughly under hot running water and dry them with a paper towel or cloth.

Once you have done this, you can start making the orange marmalade.

A simple recipe for orange jam

You only need 4 ingredient:

  • 2 kg of oranges;
  • 400 g sugar;
  • 850 ml water;
  • juice of 2 lemons.

Cooking method:

  1. Peel 4 oranges with a knife, trying to touch as little of the white part as possible. Finely chop their peel.
  2. Also peel the remaining oranges and get rid of the white shell (albedo), as it gives bitterness.
  3. Squeeze the juice from the oranges and lemons and pour into the pan.
  4. Add chopped orange zest.
  5. Place the pulp of the squeezed oranges along with the seeds into a doubled gauze bag. Tie the bag with a thread and place it in a saucepan with juice.
  6. Pour in water and cook over low heat for about 80 minutes.
  7. After the time has passed, remove the bag of pulp from the pan, let cool and squeeze well.
  8. Add sugar to the juice and cook over low heat, stirring frequently, for about 80 minutes.
  9. Check the consistency – pour a drop of jam onto a plate chilled in the freezer. If it thickens, the jam is ready. If it drains, cook the jam for a few more minutes. If the jam is too thin, cook until it reaches the desired consistency.
  10. Fill sterilized jars with hot jam, seal them and turn them upside down. Leave this until the jars cool completely.
