Lingkarjateng.id – Coffee lovers have different taste preferences. There are those who love thick black coffee, there are also those who prefer it mixed with sugar and sweetened condensed milk (SKM). Did you know that the way we prepare coffee affects our health?
Dr Dedyanto Henky Saputra said the easiest way to make coffee is simply with hot water, without adding sugar or SKM to not reduce the effectiveness of the coffee.
According to him, a sugar blend or SKM can reduce the amount of antioxidants absorbed by the body and increase calorie weight.
Therefore, the health benefits of drinking coffee backfire on people who are overweight, obese, or with diabetes mellitus.
In addition to taste, people also need to pay attention to the portion of coffee they drink. According to the recommendations, people should not consume more than 400 mg of caffeine or the equivalent of three cups of coffee in a day.
“Not a glass, yes, because if the glass is more than a cup. But no human being is the same, we brothers have different characteristics,” he said.
He said it’s possible for someone drinking three cups of coffee to get health benefits, but other people who drink the same amount actually raise their blood pressure or increase their risk of heart attack.
“In reality, coffee is included in the category of healthy drinks, but with conditions. It has to be served correctly, the portion has to be according to each individual and drunk by the right person, ”he explained.
Coffee is known to contain a number of substances for the body, including polyphenols, which are antioxidants with a protective effect on cells from damage caused by free radicals.
“The glucuronic acid content of coffee, which is also a type of polyphenol, is helpful in increasing insulin sensitivity, thereby reducing the risk of diabetes mellitus,” he explained.
In addition, coffee is also rich in magnesium, which is useful for muscle contraction, including the heart muscle, to maintain the performance of the hormone insulin which can keep blood sugars healthy and prevent the risk of heart disease.
Coffee drinks also contain B vitamins which are important for energy metabolism, thus reducing the risk of obesity. (Lingkar Network | Lingkarjateng.id)
