How to make a traditional Latvian catfish tartar fish pie

The program “My choice: Latvia” about inspiring women who have chosen to live and work in Latvia can be seen on TV3 channel every Sunday at 17:45 and on the TV3Play platform.

Here is Faimya’s recipe:

Yeast dough 0.5kg.

Separate about 1/5 part. Both pieces are rolled out.

Grease the pan with butter, place the largest piece of dough in the pan so that the edges exceed about 5 cm.

Filling

Fish. We had the catfish. I like this cake with it the most, the Tatars make this cake with stori. You need 200-300 g of fish. It is cut into cubes. Tenderloin is used, as there should be no bone.

Rice. 50-100 years The rice is cooked, but not completely soft.

Onions. One small or half a half. Cut into thin cubes.

Frost, black pepper.

Everything is mixed and filled into the prepared dough.

Butter 50 -70 g. Put it on top of the filling, evenly cut pieces of butter.

The whole thing is covered with the second rolled out dough, which is joined to the basic dough to form a closed and wide cake. There can be room for creativity, how it can be embellished.

Bake at 180°C for about 40-45 min.
