Sugar-free peach compote: ingredients
For this recipe you need 5 ingredients and 15 minutes at your disposal – that’s how long it takes to prepare this sugar-free peach compote.
The stars are the peaches, which must be as ripe, juicy and fragrant as possible, and now is the right time, towards the end of summer.
Keep in mind, however, that this recipe contains more fruit than water, so from a practical point of view it is more of a thick syrup in which the peaches are preserved. Like a kind of chutney in terms of consistency, but completely different ingredients in the composition.
For the classic compote, the rule is quite simple: fruit and water in almost equal amounts + sugar (1 cup of sugar to 4 cups of water). Boil together until the fruit softens and the sugar is completely dissolved.
In the case of our recipe, here are the ingredients needed:
8 peaches, peeled, pitted and cut into cubes or slices, smaller or larger, according to preferences 5 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup 50 ml of water (or more, depending on the desired consistency) the juice of one lemon – this is the ingredient that will keep the peaches fresh in color 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Place a saucepan over medium to high heat and add all of the above ingredients.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
The peaches should soften and the liquid should turn into a thick syrup.
The compote, left to cool for a few minutes, is then placed in sterilized jars, which are kept in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
This “different” peach compote can be served with yogurt, on toast, as a filling for pancakes or topping for waffles or, why not, with vanilla ice cream.
