How to Make a Car Exhaust Resonator, Also Know its Function!

You need to know how to make a car exhaust resonator to create the comfort of your vehicle.

You need to know, a car resonator is a component in a four-wheeled vehicle that functions to muffle sound.

This component comes in the form of a tube. If the vehicle owner does not install a resonator, usually various problems will arise in your four-wheeled vehicle.

Because, without a resonator, the car will usually produce a sound that sounds harsher and louder.

It can even cause a buzz in the cabin space. This of course will make the car passengers become uncomfortable.

How to Make Your Own Car Exhaust Resonator

To make the car sound smoother but still fierce, you can make your own car exhaust resonator.

How to make this resonator is not too difficult. You can prepare the necessary ingredients.

Resonators are needed to utilize the flue gas flow as power. First, measure the large pipe that will be used to make the resonator. The length is approximately 40 cm.

You can try to make it with a used motorcycle exhaust matic. So, you don’t have to bother making your own tube. The width can be approximately 12 cm.

Also prepare a pipe that is about 4-5cm in size. If the pipe for the inside is too small, then the car will feel heavy walking.

If it is too big, then the car will be wasteful of gas and lack of power. The inner pipe we need is about 55 cm long.

The next way to make a car resonator is to drill or make a hole in the inner pipe. Make lots of holes with a size 8 drill bit.

For the exhaust tip, you can use a 4 cm wide pipe like the one in the resonator. The length is approximately 21cm. Once finished, you can directly attach it to the exhaust of your car.

For the installation of the resonator, you should do it properly so that it can function properly.

If it’s wrong, it can cause problems with your car. One of them is the performance of the car engine which is reduced.

If you can’t do it yourself, then the car exhaust resonator for installation, you can entrust it to an experienced repair shop.

Car Exhaust Resonator Function

Before you decide to make your own resonator, then you should know the function of the exhaust resonator on the following four-wheeled vehicles.

1. Make the Exhaust Sound Smoother

The main function of installing a resonator on a car exhaust is to muffle the sound that comes out when the engine is running. Without a resonator, usually a car exhaust will produce a louder and less comfortable sound.

Therefore, a car exhaust needs a resonator that can function to smooth the sound that comes out of the car.

2. Converting Exhaust Flow into Energy

By installing a resonator on the exhaust of a four-wheeled vehicle, the exhaust gas flow can be turned into power.

You need to know, the car exhaust does not actually have a filter as an exhaust gas path that can produce thrust. The exhaust gas from the combustion has a high enough pressure.

When the car exhaust has a resonator installed, the exhaust gas flow can turn into power. That way, it can make the car’s performance even more improved.

This exhaust resonator can also make the engine performance more optimal. Because, the presence of this resonator will affect fuel consumption. Even the car can be more powerful.

3. Generate Thrust

Installing a resonator on the exhaust is not only useful for making gas flow as power. However, the pressure coming out of the resonator can also provide energy called velocity energy.

Well, this energy will produce thrust. You should know, if the exhaust gases from the combustion of a car engine also have high pressure.

However, the high pressure is considered not necessarily able to produce thrust. Therefore, you still need to install a car exhaust resonator.

The installation of a resonator is also useful for creating back pressure in the exhaust gas stream or back pressure. The amount of pressure also comes from the type of resonator you are using.

Therefore, you must recognize the difference between long and short resonators. The goal is to find out how much back pressure which will be generated.

You also need to know the difference between long and short resonators before applying how to make a car exhaust resonator. (R10/HR-Online)
