How to Lock WhatsApp on iPhone with Face ID or Touch ID Authentication

Techno.id – For you iPhone users, there are many benefits from the Face ID (Facial Recognition) and Touch ID (Fingerprint) features, starting from unlocking the iPhone to authorizing payments. Now a number of applications can also use Face ID or Touch ID authentication to provide access, even if your device is unlocked.

These applications range from banking, e-commerce, including WhatsApp. So, to lock WhatsApp on your iPhone, you can set security with facial recognition, fingerprint or passcode to view chats even though the iPhone is unlocked. Here’s how.

1. Open WhatsApp

2. Click on the Settings tab at the bottom right of the screen

3. Tap Privacy

4. Tap Lock Screen

5. Slide Enable Require Face ID or Require Touch ID

6. Select the required time duration for Face ID or Touch ID

When Screen Lock is enabled, you can still reply to messages from notifications and answer calls, but WhatsApp chats cannot be accessed without registered facial or fingerprint recognition.

If Face ID or Touch ID is not working, a white screen will appear saying ‘WhatsApp is Locked. Unlock with Face ID or Touch ID to open WhatsApp’.

You will only get the option to use a passcode after several failed attempts. You can also follow the steps below to bypass Face ID or Touch ID if the failed option does not appear.

If you need to access WhatsApp chats protected by Face ID or Touch ID, you can do so with the iPhone passcode. The steps below will bypass the Face ID or Touch ID lock function in WhatsApp.

1. Open iPhone Settings

2. Scroll down to ‘Face ID & Passcode’ or ‘Touch ID & Passcode’

3. Enter the iPhone passcode

4. Tap ‘Other Apps’ under the ‘Use Face ID/Touch ID For’ section

5. Turn off WhatsApp

6. Open WhatsApp again

7. Enter iPhone passcode

However, this method is not an official method, but rather a weakness in this feature. This method only revokes WhatsApp’s authorization to use Face ID or Touch ID. It should work and give you access to WhatsApp chats with a passcode.
