The huge popularity of Airpods
Since its release, this new accessory from Apple has been a hit so well that the brand has even released AirPods Pro since. Small, practical, discreet … AirPods are now part of the daily life of many people. One study even claims that 17% of people keep their AirPods for sex. An impressive figure that says a lot about the dependence of some on technology. But who are we to judge?
Still, despite all their advantages, these AirPods are very easy to lose. Fortunately, Apple had foreseen the blow and it is possible to locate them.
How to locate my lost Airpods?
Since IOS 10.3, Apple offers a system that allows you to locate your AirPods if you ever lose them. For this, you will first need to have your Airpods configured. Logically, you did this when you first connected the AirPods to your phone. You must have activated the option Find my iPhone and the option Send the last position.
If they are configured correctly, you should be able to locate them, but certain conditions must be met:
- The charging box must be open.
- Your AirPods should be outside of the charging case.
- Your AirPods should be near Bluetooth. If not, you will only be able to locate the last location they connected to a device.
You then have several solutions to find your AirPods. You can locate them on a map or ring them. We will detail these procedures for you.
Locate your AirPods on the map
If you lose your precious AirPods, you still have the option of locating them on a map with your phone or on a computer. Here’s the procedure to follow :
- Log into the iCloud site with your Apple ID and password
- Click on Locate
- Select AirPods
- Check the map to find your AirPods
The blue dot indicates your current location with the device you are using. A green dot indicates your connected AirPods. You can make them ring or create a route to find them. On the other hand, if a gray point appears, it means that your AirPods are turned off, disconnected, out of range or simply in their case. In this situation, the gray point indicates the last position where your AirPods connected to a device.
