Sincerity is everything
A friendly farewell message will make the group’s most elegant outing the way you think it deserves your attention and care.
For this reason, you can write a text explaining the reasons for not being able to keep up with the exchange of messages.
To do so, enter the desired group and tap on its name. The information and participants will appear. Look for the option “Leave the group” and you’re done.
If you want, before that you can still leave your contacts in the farewell text so that members can speak to you directly.

A less ostentatious way is to avoid sending messages. It is not the classic departure of the group, but being quiet, in yours, can be a good option. Many groups tend to get discouraged over time, and participants end up sending fewer and fewer messages.
After a while, just go out and delete everything from your conversation list.

A great idea for this is to silence the group. That way you will remain in it, but you will not be notified of new messages.
