Sascha Kullig primarily deals with institutional investors. But in addition to insurers and pension funds, he has also been targeting private investors for a few months now. “Our approach to investors is changing,” says the head of capital market business at the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (VDP). The association is increasingly recruiting self-decision makers looking for a relatively safe investment with adequate returns: At the beginning of January, Commerzbank, for example, brought a mortgage-backed Pfandbrief onto the market that offers 2.75 percent annual interest. Investors start from 1000 euros. The stake will be repaid after three years.
