Many computer owners are certainly asking themselves – how to increase PC performance easily and at low cost? In this case, one of the most common answers will probably be to buy more RAM. It’s no secret that the more we have, the faster the computer should run. But how much does it matter? How much will a mid-range set benefit from increasing the amount of RAM? Is the game really worth the candle?
RAM and gaming performance
The fact is that most gamers do not have powerful computers that can handle the latest games in 4K resolution. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 or even RTX 4080, however, are reserved for a small group of gamers with really high requirements and, above all, very rich wallets. Most of us, however, choose mid-range components, such as Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 7 processors, and graphics like the RTX 3060.
A computer equipped in this way should still be able to handle 1080p resolution, which – according to Steam statistics – is still used by over 62 percent. players. Despite this, in some situations he may already lack power. What to do in that case? It would be best to replace the processor or graphics card, but this is an expensive rework. Therefore, some players may decide to buy more RAM, which should also bring an increase in performance. How big? Well, I will try to answer this question in this text.
By the way, some of you, when assembling a new computer and selecting individual components, may wonder – Should you go for more RAM but slower, or maybe less RAM but faster? In my tests, I used two different ADATA kits. Both are very good, but they differ slightly in parameters, so we will also partially answer this question.
